Lesson 1: Hello (안녕하세요) and Thankyou (감사합니다)

Welcome to Lesson 1 of your Beginner Korean Course!

These are two basic Korean phrases that are most commonly used: Hello and Thank You in Korean.

The first phrase is 안녕하세요 (Annyeonghaseyo), which is the most common way to say Hello in Korean. It can be used in both formal and informal settings.

If you want to say
Hi (to a colleague, stranger, Older):안녕하세요 (Annyeonghaseyo)
Answer a phone call: 안녕하세요 (can also be used), 여보세요 (Yoboseyo) (Mostly used)
Hi/Hello (to a friend, younger known to you, Child): 안녕 (Annyeong)

Next, we’ll learn how to say Thankyou in Korean. 감사합니다 (Kamsahamnida) is the standard way to say thank you. Similar to Annyeonghaseyo, it can be used in both formal and informal situations.

Kamsahamnida is a great way to show appreciation for anything, big or small.
By mastering these two simple phrases, you can already start basic communication in Korean. Practice saying them out loud and try greeting your family or friends in Korean. Remember, the key to language learning is consistent practice. So, let’s keep learning together!
